Headquartered in Brisbane, MCH is currently involved in 5 coal mines across Queensland.

The Role

Mitsui Coal Holdings Pty Ltd, (MCH) is seeking a Manager for the Corporate Development Department. This role will be responsible for monitoring the operational financial performance of BHP Mitsui Coal (“BMC”) Joint Venture.

Reporting to the General Manager Corporate Development Department, you will support the corporate development department functions.

You will bring your own unique skills to the role in order to ensure BMC manages the JV's in the best interests of all participants and in accordance with best industry practice.

The primary functions of this role include:

              Analyse and report on production, operational and marketing performance to General Manager and Management of Mitsui Coal Holdings as well as Mitsui & Co. (Australia) Ltd and Mitsui & Co. Ltd (Japan).

              Monitor, analyse and report financial performance of each JV.

              Provide recommendations and suggestions to Management to maximise Mitsui's benefit in the Joint Venture.

              Represent MCH’s interests in the BMC Joint Venture.

              Keep update to date with market movements, Government initiatives and legislative framework changes with respect to Greenhouse Gas emissions, projects, energy consumption and production and advise Management on best practice.

              Tracking and reporting Greenhouse gas emissions for MCH

              Developing and managing multiple strategic initiatives which includes contributing to the business plan and strategic plan.

              Assisting with the development of innovative commercial business solutions in line with corporate financial targets and requirements.

              Lead and mentor the Corporate Development Department team members where required.

 

The Person

You will enjoy working within a small successful team and bring your own proven experience to the company. With an ability to co-ordinate and prioritize your own work you will have the following skills and attributes:

              Tertiary qualifications in an appropriate business or engineering discipline.

              Post graduate studies in business administration (highly desirable)

              Commercial experience in investments and joint ventures would be advantageous.

              Business analytical skills and report writing.

              Knowledge and skills in developing and implementing business development strategies,

              Ability to understand commercial information and business decision making processes.

              Ability to contribute to strategic decisions, project evaluation and monitoring.

              Competence in contract review, negotiation, drafting, and compliance.

              High level of communication skills (written and verbal).

              Proficiency in Office 365/MS Suite (especially MS Excel).

              Experience with SAP or similar software systems (desirable)

              Ability to negotiate effectively.

              Ability to think critically and constructively challenge.

              Ability to work with different cultures.
