The Company

Mitsui E&P Australia Pty Ltd (MEPAU) is a wholly owned subsidiary of Mitsui & Co. Ltd. We operate as regional headquarters for Mitsui’s oil and gas exploration and production business in Australia and New Zealand.

The Role

We are seeking a safety conscious and analytical individual to join our talented team.  Responsible for the integrity management of all operated cased wells, assist with cased hole well programs and well campaign equipment preparation and to provide on-site engineering support.

Key Responsibilities will include:

  • Field Production Reporting
  • Cased Hole Well-work Planning
  • Perform fundamental calculations that guide well equipment specifications and operations planning
  • Provide team input to optimizing operational sequences, methods and equipment to meet a well’s program objectives.
  • Perform cost / benefit reviews as relating to well operations as required.
  • Participate in operational, integrity, safety and environmental risk assessments as required for operational planning.
  • Liaise with other Mitsui divisions such as HS&E, procurement and contracts as relevant to operations being undertaken.
  • Approvals – Assist in obtaining corporate, JV and regulatory approvals for well-work, as required. 
  • Provide base support to field activities in terms of resourcing material/services and coordinate logistics to support well intervention activities.
  • Assist in supervision of well intervention activities in the field as and when required.
  • Undertake technical investigations/studies with support and guidance from senior team members as required.
  • Compile close out reports for well operations.

  • Experience working in production aspects of petroleum engineering, including surveillance, well management and performance optimization
  • Experience in well-operations planning, including calculating well equipment specifications
  • Demonstrable understanding of health & safety and compliance issues and requirements
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Performance driven, strong work ethic
  • Strong communication skills
  • Strong personal organisation and time management skills
  • Ability to prioritize and collaborate both autonomously and in a team environment
