The Role
Due to an internal movement, Mitsui Coal Holdings Pty Ltd, (MCH) is seeking an experienced and innovative Mining Engineer or Geologist to fulfill the role of Manager - Mining Technical Services. This role will provide technical input and advice on current Joint Venture (JV) Coal Projects and potential Coal Projects.

Reporting to the General Manager Resource Development (Mining Technical Services) you will provide mining technical input and advice on current Joint Venture Coal Projects and potential Coal Projects in the pipeline. The resource Development and Technical Services Department provide technical advice and support for Mitsui JVs.

You will bring your own unique skills to the role in order to maximize the value of Mitsui Coal’s investments within Australia and internationally.The primary functions of this role include:
• Providing technical expertise to ensure sound governance at the operational level;
• Monthly forecasting and reporting of JV’s to local management and head office (Tokyo, Japan);
• Providing technical expertise in evaluating mine expansions and acquisitions in support of Mitsui Coal’s growth strategy;
• Contributing to the sound governance of project assessments and project implementation; and
• Enhancing Mitsui’s Coals knowledge base in mining operations.

The Person

You will enjoy working within a small successful team of technical experts and bring your own proven experience to the company. You will also bring to the role mature interpersonal skills to achieve results through influence and facilitation. With an ability to co-ordinate and prioritize your own work you will have the following skills and attributes:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Mine Engineering or related degree (a post-graduate qualification in business administration or equivalent would be advantageous)
• Exposure to Coal Industry in Australia is essential
• Operational experience in large scale surface and/or underground operations
• Demonstrated experience in mine planning and project management
• Have proven analytical and problem solving skills
• Excellent business acumen and commercial knowledge
• Be an outstanding leader, influencer and relationship builder
• A willingness to contribute outside of immediate responsibility through discretionary effort
• Experience in completing due diligence studies and independent pier reviews
